Firearm Safety – Dangers of a Squib Round

If you enjoy shooting sports and you’ve never heard of a squib round, consider watching this description of what can happen when a cartridge is improperly manufactured or re-loaded (in my case, it was manufactured improperly….I am not a re-loader). As a buddy and I learned the hard way this weekend, a squib load has an inadequate powder charge which leads to a fired bullet lodging in the barrel  – it never exits. In many cases, the shooter will not realize this has happened and will continue to fire. This is precisely the situation described in this video. Thankfully, no one was injured, but a squib often results in a ruined firearm as it did in this case.
