Resources: Law, Gospel, Works, and Inerrancy

by Jonathan Hamilton

A few resources for you that I’ve been perusing over the last day.

First, what place do works have in the life of the believer? This question has long been debated, and the past week or so has seen an increased interest as starkly opposing viewpoints have been presented by prominent evangelicals.

Rick Phillips (the first post of his I’ve ever read as far as I know, and I appreciate it) responds to the most recent controversy here:

“Law-Gospel Off the Rails”

And from two years ago, Kevin DeYoung preaches a good sermon on the topic at the T4G conference:

“Spirit-Powered, Gospel-Driven, Faith-Fueled Effort”

And second, what should our view of Scripture be as Christians? Kevin DeYoung, again preaching at the T4G conference, answers the question from the helpful perspective of Christ’s own view of Scripture:

“Never Spoke a Man Like This Before: Inerrancy, Evangelism and Christ’s Unbreakable Bible”
